One of the really cool things about living in St. Pete is the large number of really great locally owned restaurants. I tell people all the time that you could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days a week for a month and never go to the same place twice, and never have to visit a chain restaurant. Nothing against the big chains, but to really get a feel for any cities local culture, you have to see what the local people are about, and what they’re cooking.
One of my absolute FAVORITE places for lunch or dinner is Ciccio Cali in the Northeast Shopping Center. Cicco Cali is a quick-serve concept that has built their reputation on fresh, healthy food, with an emphasis on bowls, wraps, and pizzas. With a mix of Asian, Mexican, and California flavors, Ciccio’s is hugely popular with the fitness crowd, families, working lunches, and relaxed dinners with friends. I NEVER go there without running into somebody that I know. Quick and casual, it’s a perfect place for lunch and dinner, and they also offer an amazing brunch on the weekends with live music and great drink specials. And don’t forget to check out Taco Tuesday, where you can try several different bowls made in taco form for only $2 each!
Ciccio Cali is one of many concepts owned by the Ciccio Restaurant group. Their other concepts include The Lodge, Green Lemon, Better Byrd, Daily Eats, and the hugely popular Fresh Kitchen.
If you’re new to town, visiting on vacation, or have lived here for a period but just haven’t checked it out yet, I HIGHLY recommend Ciccio Cali. Get the Hot and Crunchy Tuna or the Spicy Brazilian (pictured below from my lunch yesterday!). You won’t be disappointed!
